How to Wire a 120V AC Distribution Panel (Timestamp 29:37):
Use Cases
This Progressive Dynamics PD5500 Camper 120V AC Breaker Box can be wired many different ways depending on your camper setup. Here are some of the more common options:
30A Shore Power Only
If your camper has ONLY shore power (or generator) available with no Inverter supplying power to your 120V loads, this is how you would wire this Progressive Dynamics PD5500 Camper 120V AC Breaker Box.
30A Shore Power with Inverter/Charger
This is the most common setup with DIY campervans. This setup will supply power to 8 different 120V Circuits when using tandem breakers.
Inverter w/ Dedicated ‘Shore Only’ Circuits
This setup will allow you to use an inverter/charger with a dedicated ‘shore power only’ output such as AC Out 2 on the Victron Multiplus Inverter/Charger. AC Out 1 supplies passthrough power from shore power AND inverting power form the batteries as well as shore power passthrough only while connected to shore power/generator.
50A Shore Power Only
If your camper has ONLY 50A shore power (or generator) available with no Inverter supplying power to your 120V loads, this is how you would wire this Progressive Dynamics PD5500 Camper 120V AC Breaker Box.
50A Shore Power w/ 50A Compatible Inverter
This is how you would wire the Progressive Dynamics PD5500 Camper 120V AC Breaker Box to an Inverter/Charge compatible with handling both ‘hot’ legs (L1 and L2) from 50A shore power. The Victron Multiplus ii 2×120 is a great example of this type of setup.
Dual Inverter System w/ 50A Shore Power
For large systems featuring 50A shore power, this is how you would wire dual inverter/chargers to the Progressive Dynamics PD5500 Camper 120V AC Breaker Box.
