Description
The Victron MultiPlus, as the name suggests, is a combined inverter and charger in one elegant package. Its many features include a true sine wave inverter, adaptive charging, hybrid PowerAssist technology, plus multiple system integration features.

PowerAssist
The MultiPlus will prevent overload of a limited AC source, such as a generator or shore power connection. First, battery charging will automatically be reduced when otherwise an overload would occur. The second level will boost the output of a generator or shore side supply with power taken from the battery.
Remote Monitoring and Control
When coupled with a GX device (e.g. Cerbo GX) you can monitor and control your Multi and system or systems’ locally (LAN) or remotely via the internet from anywhere in the world, using the VRM app and VRM portal website. Access can be from a phone, tablet, laptop or PC for multiple operating systems. There is no end to the level of control, from adjusting your Multi to auto starting a backup generator and more…
Uninterrupted AC Power
In the event of a grid failure, or when shore or generator power is disconnected, the inverter within the Multi is automatically activated and takes over the supply to the connected loads. This happens so fast (less than 20 milliseconds) that computers and other electronic equipment will continue to operate without disruption.

I purchased the MultiPlus 2000 as part of a complete solar kit from Explorist.life (which I highly recommend). In addition to the MultiPlus, we bought a 150/60 solar controller, Lynx Distributor, and Smart Shunt (already owned); all Victron. Kit includes all wire needed, lugs, terminals, mounting hardware, and switches. Only things I needed were some additional tools. Using Steph and Nate’s extensive video instructions, installation was pretty straightforward. No issues with it. Programming was also pretty easy. You will need the dongle to do your programming. I used the screenshots of the settings from the programming blog on Explorist.life, changing some of the settings recommended by my battery manufacturer. Moment of truth: installation was complete and time to flip the switch. Everything worked! We took a 4 day boondock camping trip just a few days after completing the install. No problems at all. I did obsess a bit watching the system on the app. It charges as it should when on shore power and provides 120v AC power when disconnected. We can run coffee makers, hairdryers, chargers, etc. Basically everything but the air conditioner, which is just what we wanted. For very little more money, you can go with the 3000 but will need 400ah battery bank. I am not disappointed in going with the 2000, however. Fits our needs perfectly. I like that all of the Victron components work seamlessly together. I can use the app to monitor and control everything. I have never done a project like this and appreciate the Victron system, and the support from Explorist.life.
